The Michigan Shock has existed for over a decade in the suburb of Detroit. This new edition of the Shock has joined forces with the Michigan Fastbreak to become the largest program in Michigan. As the program solidifies, it will have teams in several areas of the state. Three of the teams will be competing in the high school age divisions. Our goal is to teach the players to be versatile and become good basketball IQ players.

“Michigan Shock is the premier team in the state of Michigan.  We believe that being part of the GNBA will give us the opportunity to also accomplish this on the National Level”

                                                                                             -Coach Mark Williams, Sr.

The Program:

The Shock has numerous players garnering college coach’s attention. This comes on the brink of having the most successful AAU season in the state of Michigan. Our national team was a pleasant surprise to do so well at such a young age:  Final finish at the Deep South, TOC in Chicagoland Champions,USJN Chicagoland Champions, as well as the Finals of the Ballin’ in the Ballroom in Las Vegas. The 2016 class is led by the backcourt duo of Bailey Thomas (Marian- state champions) and Antoinette Miller (Lathrup). They are regarded as one of the best backcourts in the Midwest. They are both being heavily recruited, with both already receiving Division I college offers.  The two of them are complemented by Imari Williams (Harrison), a lights out shooter, which makes the three of them very hard to guard against.  The strength of the program lies in the loaded 2017 class. Sam Thomas (Marian- state champions) 6’0 guard and Tylar Bennett (Country Day) 6’4” center, are nationally ranked, and have received numerous Division I college offers.  Ellie Taylor and Kierra Fletcher are also gaining Division I attention as well as a few other prospects.

The Future:

The future of the program is exciting with the likes of Jenna Schluter (Mercy), Graysen Cockerham (Hartland) and Janara Flowers (Walled Lake Western) in the 2018 class. This trioof guards will prove to be a handful for opponents. They have also received inquiring calls from colleges. The 2019 class has several players that are separating themselves from their peers.  They will be a delight to watch. Maize Taylor is a tough point guard to deal with on the floor. Julia Ayrault, a 6’0 forward is going to be a highly recruitable prospect. High energy playing Olivia Moore is a good complement to those two prospects. We even have a 2020 prospect on the team in Jade Thomas. The future is bright for the Michigan Shock.
